Xanthorrhoea Johnsonii, an iconic Australian native species are very slow growing, drought tolerant once established, and produce a tall flower spike in Spring when conditions are favourable.
A Grass Tree with a 1 metre tall trunk is likely to be around 100 years old.
Grass Trees make a lovely living sculpture in your architecht designed garden or in a free form native garden. They are really one of a kind!
Our Grass Trees have established roots in their pots. They like to be planted out in well drained soil, in full sun or a partly shaded position. Care should be taken not to disturb the roots when planting out and only dig the hole as deep as the soil is in the pot.
It is important to plant out at the same height in the ground as it was in the pot.
The hole sould be around 10 cm wider on each side. Carefully knock or cut pot off and gently lower Grass Tree into the hole without disturbing the roots or soil from the pot. Back fill around the Grass Tree using a native potting mix. Water well. Water regularly until established
We have hundreds of Grass Trees in stock and over a hundred ready to go, with roots established in their pots. They vary in size from 10 cm trunks to 150cm trunks and are priced at around $6.00 per cm of trunk height, plus GST. Prices may vary for thick chunky trunks, double headers, and unique one of a kind specimens. They have healthy green lush scapes that have grown since their harvest.
